Here are the unadulterated answers from the survey so far.
– and that is even clearer
– We can look at this in the future if the results change.
Overall, I think the view of visitors to this website is one of self-determination for the Earthship Movement in NZ. Bearing this in mind then I will ensure that we canvas a wide range of sources for Earthship information, designs and discussion. Equally we will ensure that we take a ‘lateral view’ of the application of the Earthship Principles – what does that mean? Well, it may mean that it’s not just buildings made of rammed earth tyres that get air time here.
Any concepts or designs that are: built of recycled and natural materials; grow their own food; generate their own power; collect its own water; and processes its own sewage – are the kind of things that we need to put on here. I think this is somewhat true to that Kiwi idiom of a ‘Number 8 fencing wire’ mentality (which we share with our Aussie cousins). I typically cringe when I see that phrase used, but I think that’s mainly because we use it as an excuse for not doing things properly. However I think in the Earthship context it is a true strength for New Zealanders in this debate and there are a number of great things that have been happening in New Zealand for years:
– Marley’s rainwater harvesting solutions have been in the market for some time
– Use of old F&P washing machine parts to build high performance wind turbines happens here today
– and putting it all together is just what we do and have been doing for a long time. [Here’s the Solabode from Nelson]
So let’s push the boundaries and be the change we want to see in the world, unconstrained and free.
