Hi Ed, not sure if I spoke on the phone to you but this event will now be held when we have sufficient numbers to make it viable. I will collect and store such expressions of interest and send out email invitations at such time advising of dates etc. Also I am available to hold workshops in other regions when invited by other groups, please enquire for logistics and fees etc. Kind regards

I am so very glad to see this type of building going on in beautiful New Zealand!!!!
I build full sized homes from pallets and they make a great material!!!
This is one I built last year on the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation –
Whoops this link i hope will work!! – http://i40.tinypic.com/23kce3a.jpg
David – that is amazing what you’ve done with pallets. Its no secret that I’m a big fan of pallet building and I see this as the evolution of the rammed tyre for building houses based on earthship principles. I’d love to hear more about the build process and any special considerations. Cheers Rob
Hi David and others, great use of pallets stuffed with earth/straw for thermal mass (or insulation depending on the density) I did check out your website last year for this build, quite an achievement! We will be experimenting soon with compacted light earth in pallet wall assemblies for internal walls to improve thermal mass levels in the building, we still prefer to use insulation for exterior walls to keep us warm in NZ’s temperate climate. I have designs for full house solutions using solely pallets for floor, wall and roof structure. These are small houses for a starting point as the longest span I can get from a double thickness pallet roof assembly is around 3m (10 feet), thats fixing 3 pallets end for end. We need to get building consents for smaller buildings (under 10 m2) first to set the precedent for building larger abodes. Keep up the great work!
Announcing: Pallet building workshop in New Brighton Christchurch on the 8th to 10th June 2012, starting Friday at 5pm. We will make some prefab assemblies and partly construct a 10m2 sleepout on the Sunday. Contact Cathy Sweet for details: csweet@xtra.co.nz PH: 03 3888541
Hello, is there any pallet workshops in the north island?
Hi Dannii,
Nothing I know of right now but hopefully Mark can answer himself. I’d suggest that Wellington is do’able if there is enough interest. Where are you based?
Hey Mark. I just stumbled upon this site. I’m in Golden Bay and would love to make it for one of your courses. Is this still going on?
Any chance of doing a course in Auckland?
any courses being held I live in Nelson and am really keen on building pallet cabin
